When a carton buyer writes rub into the spec

A line that says “1500 rubs” or “high rub” is not yet a grade. Ask whose method, whose load, and whose board before you answer.

The number arrived without a method

Carton buyers paste rub into the artwork spec the way they paste a Pantone. Sometimes the figure is their brand manual. Sometimes it is a sentence copied from a varnish leaflet. “1500 cycles”, “excellent rub”, and “gloss 80” do not name the same test.

On 818D alone, public notes already split. The LOCOER table cites gloss about 65–75 and A4 rub about 1000–1500 cycles at 4 lb and speed 2. An exhibition page cites rub up to 1500 cycles and gloss 80. Both are the maker’s public figures, under different lab conditions. HuiRun will not pick the higher one and sign it.

  • Ask who wrote the number and on which instrument.
  • Ask the load, the speed, and the cycle count that counts as fail.
  • Ask whether the test is on ink, on white board, or on both.
  • Do not copy 818D’s table onto Honglu aqueous.
  • Do not copy it onto 811, 815, or 819 either.

What we can answer the same week

We can name a grade whose catalog label is high-rub, gloss, matte, or blister, say if it is Hefei stock or a factory slot, and send that TDS. We can tell you the two 818D figures and that they are not a contract. We cannot tell you the sheet will pass the buyer’s lab until the method is the one in the next article and someone has run it on the live board.

If the buyer’s number is stricter than any typical on the TDS, say so before the sea lot. A trial kilos order is the honest next step. Shipping a container against an unread spec is how claims start.

Gloss gets the same treatment

A gloss unit without the angle and the place on the sheet (solid ink or unprinted board) is not comparable to 65–75 or to 80. Agree the meter in the same sentence as the rub method. Pretty cartons and failed rub often share one email thread. Split them.

Who owns the reply

The plant owns the coater, the dryer, and the test. The factory owns the TDS typicals. HuiRun owns the quote: grade, pack, kilos, documents that already exist, and the lead time clock. We do not own a wear number we did not measure.

What the quote covers

We will not write the buyer’s rub line into a HuiRun guarantee, and we will not tell the buyer the exhibition figure beat the table. Send the method. Then we match a grade and a trial, not a slogan.

Key questions

What is the short answer?

How should the numbers in this article be used?
The ranges here are typical shop practice. Confirm them on your press, paper lot, and lamps or dryer. Catalog numbers stay on the data sheet; the signed sheet comes from a trial.
