Vacuum pouches versus tins for sheetfed offset ink

2 kg and 3 kg vacuum pouches cut skinning and leftover air space. They do not change the formula. Feeding gear must match the pouch, or you buy a mess.

The pack is logistics, not a new chemistry

A vacuum pouch holds the same conventional ink as a tin of the same grade. What changes is oxygen at the surface, the weight you open per job, and how you get ink onto the fountain. Typical Furey catalog packs are 2 kg and 3 kg high-strength pouches alongside classic tins.

Plants that open a 2 kg tin for a 600 g charge pay for skin and leftover. A pouch that you empty into a feeder or squeeze with a crank can cut that waste. It will not make a slow-drying grade dry faster.

  • Same SKU chemistry; different package.
  • Less headspace usually means less skin on stay-open grades.
  • Confirm the press can take pouch feed or a crank stand.
  • Do not store punctured pouches “for later” like a half tin.
  • HuiRun quotes Furey vacuum pouches and listed feed equipment.

Feeding equipment is part of the decision

Pouch cranks, pouch feeder arms, and central ink-feed stands are catalog items, not DIY. Prices belong on a quote, not on a public page. If the plant still scoops with a spatula into an open fountain, a pouch mainly helps the ink room, not the unit.

Central feed makes sense on long process runs. Short spot jobs may still prefer small tins.

Incoming identity still matters

Pouches carry lot codes too. Photograph the pouch label with the delivery note. Incoming drawdowns follow the same protocol as tins. A pouch is easier to confuse in a dark cage if labels face the wall.

What to put on the RFQ

Grade, colour, kilos per month, tin versus 2 kg / 3 kg pouch, and whether you need a crank or a feeder arm. We will say what we can load from Hefei and what the factory packs to order.

What the quote covers

We do not weld pouches. Seal quality is the maker’s. If a shipment arrives with broken vacuum, quarantine and call us with photos before you dump the lot into the fountain.

How should the numbers in this article be used?
The ranges here are typical shop practice. Confirm them on your press, paper lot, and lamps or dryer. Catalog numbers stay on the data sheet; the signed sheet comes from a trial.
